Rita Marley Foundation’s 4th Annual public speaking contest

February 22, 2018

Congratulations to York Castle High School’s Joel Lyn for winning first place in Rita Marley’s fourth annual public speaking competition! On Friday, he represented his high school, earning the coveted public speaking title and huge reward! Lyn distinguished himself early in the competition by sharing his empathetic “opinion on the cause of and remedy for, severe weather conditions affecting various countries around the world.” The victory earned his school the initial prize of $30,000, plus an additional $15,000 after Jamaica Fire Equipment and another undisclosed entity came on board as post-event sponsors.

The Rita Marley Foundation works “towards the alleviation of poverty for peoples of developing and less developed countries.”
