We’ve just launched a new project with Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and Tongal — the leading platform for creative content development — to create a brand new music video for Bob Marley’s classic track, “One Love”! The project celebrates the 30th anniversary of Bob’s iconic best-of album, Legend, and the spirit of togetherness that his music has inspired for the last half century.
The “One Love” project offers filmmakers around the world a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a new visual identity for the track, released in 1977 when music videos had yet enter mainstream culture. We encourage all applicants to include themes of social connectedness and of making the world a better place, virtues that Bob professed throughout his life and musical career.
Launched today, the campaign kicks off a week ahead of Universal Music Enterprise‘s deluxe anniversary reissue of Legend (July 1) — which includes a bonus Blu-ray Pure Audio Disc™ of 5.1 remixes of all the iconic hits plus rare and previously unreleased versions — and will be completed in stages, per Tongal’s project strategy. Applicants will first submit a 140-character thesis of their idea for a music video. Of those, the top selections will be open for treatments to be written (by the entire community), and then once a final treatment is chosen, the contest will be opened up to filmmakers for producing the music video. The winning video will then be awarded a grand prize of $9,000 plus a year’s supply of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream (there are a total of $15,000 in prizes).
