In celebration of the 40th anniversary of TIME Magazine’s “Album Of The Century”, the Marley Family and Universal Music have released (June 2) a unique anniversary edition of ‘Exodus’! Ziggy Marley has gone into the archives, unearthed original master tapes, and put together completely new mixes featuring unused takes, new instrumentation and more to create a hallmark album in its own right, ‘Exodus 40: The Movement Continues’. In addition to being available digitally, the album is also being offered as a 2-CD set, a 3-CD set, limited edition gold vinyl (sold out), and a deluxe four-LP + two 7″ single box set.

The above video for “Turn Your Lights Down Low” from the ‘Exodus 40′ version of the album brings a new visual, animated experience to an equally original version of this iconic love song. For this track, Ziggy brought a special band of musical warriors tasked with the responsibility of remaining true to the original feel of the record, while faithfully updating some of the sonic landscapes for 2017. Born on February 6, 1945, in Jamaica, singer, musician and songwriter Bob Marley helped introduce reggae music to the world and remains one of its most beloved artists to this day.

In celebration of Bob Marley’s 68th birthday, IRIE FM is at the Bob Marley Museum at 56 Hope Road Kingston.

Elise Kelly’s “Easy Skanking” show was broadcasted live from the location. One of Bob Marley’s daughters, Stephanie Marley, talked with Elise about the 2013 Bob Marley Celebrations under the theme Survival.

Some of the entertainers at the Bob Marley Museum to pay tribute include Bob Andy, Lutan Fire, Iba Mhar, I-ciency Mau from the Mau-Mau Warriors, Nadine Sutherland and Jesse Royal.

Meanwhile Bob Marley’s widow Rita Marley is presently in Ghana.

During his lifetime, Bob Marley served as a world ambassador for reggae music. He sold more than 20 million records, making him the first international superstar to emerge from Jamaica. In 1994, Marley was inducted into the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame.

Bob Marley’s music still remains popular, more than 36 years after his passing. And his musical legacy is being continued by his widow and some of his children.

Bob Marley died of cancer in 1981.
