"Turn Your Lights Down Low" (Exodus 40 Mix)

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of TIME Magazine’s “Album Of The Century”, the Marley Family and Universal Music have released (June 2) a unique anniversary edition of ‘Exodus’! Ziggy Marley has gone into the archives, unearthed original master tapes, and put together completely new mixes featuring unused takes, new instrumentation and more to create a hallmark album in its own right, ‘Exodus 40: The Movement Continues’. In addition to being available digitally, the album is also being offered as a 2-CD set, a 3-CD set, limited edition gold vinyl (sold out), and a deluxe four-LP + two 7″ single box set.

The above video for “Turn Your Lights Down Low” from the ‘Exodus 40′ version of the album brings a new visual, animated experience to an equally original version of this iconic love song. For this track, Ziggy brought a special band of musical warriors tasked with the responsibility of remaining true to the original feel of the record, while faithfully updating some of the sonic landscapes for 2017. Blackbird Presents is proud to announce Exodus 40 Live, an all-star concert celebration event set to take place Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of one of the most iconic and inspirational albums ever recorded, the evening will feature performances by an extraordinary lineup of musicians. Music director Don Was will be joined by Ziggy Marley, Stephen Marley, Tom Morello, Gary Clark Jr., Jim James, Citizen Cope, Aloe Blacc, Cyril Neville, and Terence Higgins, with additional artists to be announced in the coming weeks.

Blackbird CEO and Founder, Keith Wortman stated,“Bob Marley’s songs, and the songs of Exodus, are more important than ever. I can’t think of any better way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this iconic album than alongside his family and these incredible musicians.”

In late 1976, the escalating violence in Jamaica which led to an assassination attempt on Bob Marley’s life, he flew to London after escalating political violence in Jamaica led to an assassination attempt on his life. During his sojourn there, Marley and the Wailers recorded the heartfelt musical masterpiece, Exodus. From the soulful skanking in “Jamming” to the funky gravitas of “Exodus” to the sweet melody of “One Love / People Get Ready,” the songs went on to become a seminal album to renowned musicians and fans everywhere. In 1999, Time magazine declared Bob Marley’s Exodus the best album of the 20th century, and BBC designated “One Love” as the song of the century.
